The mission of DEAR is to continually review:

1. The impact of inflation and resulting loss of purchasing power of all beneficiaries of The Detroit Edison Company Employee's Retirement Plan and The Michigan Consolidated Employee's Retirement Plan.
2. The periodic changes made to said plan but not applied to previous beneficiaries regardless of their date of retirement.
3. The Detroit Edison Health Care and Group Life Insurance Plan with emphasis on shared cost of all Surviving Spouses of the medical portion of this plan.
4. To protect against the erosion of retired employee benefits.
